The SPLC is the premier U.S. nonprofit organization monitoring the activities of domestic hate groups and other hard right extremists – including the neo-Nazi movement, neo-Confederates, racist skinheads, antigovernment militias, Christian Identity, antisemitic, anti-LGBTQ adherents and others.

The SPLC defunded the KKK in 2008, suing them for the brutal beating of a Black teenaged boy at a county fair.
