Karen Ritchie, Secretary

Karen joined the board as Secretary in November 2023.  She grew up in Scotland, and immigrated to the US with her family when she was in high school.  She moved to the midwest in the late 1990s, where, after getting her masters in business administration at the University of Michigan, she worked in finance and supply chain.  She moved to Pleasant Prairie in 2019, where she enjoys spending time in nature near Lake Michigan and the Chiwaukee Prairie.

Karen’s first involvement in politics was as an observer for the 2020 recount in Milwaukee.  She began volunteering with the WisDems voter protection team in early 2021 as a poll observer and voter assistance hotline worker, and has worked with different advocacy groups registering voters in southeast Wisconsin.  She became involved with the Kenosha County Democratic Party in 2021, and is an active member of the Prairie Blues neighborhood team.

Karen is passionate about voting rights, and is excited to have the opportunity to contribute to protecting democracy and improving the lives of citizens in her community.
