Tell Robin Vos to Stop Blocking the Vote

Tell Robin Vos Wisconsin Moms Deserve the Same Care

Demand a Vote on Postpartum Care—Tell Robin Vos to Stop Blocking Lifesaving Legislation

The Wisconsin State Senate just passed a BIPARTISAN bill—with a 32-1 vote—to extend Medicaid coverage for new mothers from 60 days to a full year postpartum. This critical measure ensures low-income moms have access to the physical and mental health care they desperately need after giving birth. Every other state in the nation provides this care-except Wisconsin-because of one person: Assembly Speaker Robin Vos.

Vos is once again blocking the bill from even getting a hearing on the Assembly floor.

This isn’t a partisan issue. Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle support the bill, including Republican co-author Sen. Jesse James, who rightly said, “If we can give babies a year of care, we can do the same for the mother who brought them into the world.”

Last year, because of Robin Vos, the Assembly did nothing while this same bill sat ignored—hurting Wisconsin women and babies. Now, history is repeating itself.

Wisconsin is now the only state in the entire country that has not adopted extended postpartum Medicaid coverage for moms. We are dead last—and families are paying the price.

Speaker Vos has said he won’t support what he calls a “welfare expansion.” But this is not about expanding welfare—it’s about keeping existing moms on the care they already qualify for, at the most vulnerable time in their lives.

Don’t let politics block common sense, compassionate care.

👉 Contact Assembly Speaker Robin Vos today and demand that he allow a hearing and vote on this bill.

Let him know that Wisconsin families deserve better—and that no mother should lose care just weeks after giving birth.
